Dusseldorf, Germany - Aug 12, 2009

We spent Wednesday in Dusseldorf. We decided to sleep in a bit since the long days were starting to take their toll. There was a fair bit to see in the city, but overall we weren't overly impressed. We spent the entire day walking around the old city (Altstadt). There was some interesting architecture, but nothing in comparison to Paris, or even Brussels. All the buildings were very close together, so it was difficult to get good pictures of the bigger ones. Unfortunately it started pouring rain for the entire afternoon, but we stubbornly trudged along through the rain determined to see all the major sights.

We walked down Konig Sallee, which is a very wealthy street full of shops like Louis Vuiton, Tiffany, Chanel, Rolex, Prada and that sort. The streets were lined with BMWs, Mercedes, Porches, Ferraris and Lamborghinis. It is a fairly big financial centre. We even walked passed the Google office! There were beautiful ponds all along the Konig Sallee, with an assortment of fountains.
